Skills for Life and Work is a training programme for young people aged 16-17 years old who want to develop their skills and get ready for work. If you’re not sure what kind of job you’d like, Skills for Life and Work can help you decide.
The Skills for Life and Work programme is a fully funded programme with no entry requirements. During the programme you will be able to gain your Numeracy, Literacy and ICT Qualifcations to get a Job. You can get gain a qualifications at Level 1 or Entry Level in your chosen vocational area and get real experience in a workplace this will take place between 24 and 30 hours each week for two years. We have a wide range of different courses available. You’ll be able to work towards recognised qualifications and get real experience in a workplace. You’ll take part in Skills for Life and Work for between 24 and 30 hours each week for two years.
So once you have achieved your Level 1 Qualification you can continue to do your Level 2 and 3 through our Apprenticeship Programme. Our students often secure a full time job with their placement provider and can then join the Apprenticeship Programme to continue gaining qualifications that will help them to achieve their career ambitions. These courses are also fully funded and are part of your working week with your employer.
The Apprenticeships programme offers training, across a wide range of Apprenticeships, to people aged 16 and over.
As an Apprentice you will need to have secured a job, in a Northern Ireland-based company, working four days a week. As an Apprentice you will work with experienced staff to learn and develop your skills and receive ‘off-the-job’ training, usually one day a week with a Tutor. You will work towards achieving vocational qualifications and Essential Skills qualifications (Numeracy, Literacy and ICT. We offer a range of different courses and work with a range of different local employers.
