Springvale Learners on a Creative High at the Nerve Centre!
Digital Media and Computer Technology Learners Aidan Turner, Nathan Kelly, Liam McStravick and Daire McIlroy recently had the opportunity to participate in a number of career specific workshops at the Nerve Centre in Belfast.
Aidan, Nathan and Daire took part in a Music Creation and Production Workshop after applying for, and successfully securing one of the fifteen places in each programme available to young people in Northern Ireland. With access to a recording studio and state of the art equipment, they created their own piece of music and learned how to collaborate with other musicians as well as experiment with audio effects and microphone techniques.
Computer Technology Learner Liam McStravick enjoyed his time at the Music Workshop, ‘The workshop was really good fun, I definitely learned a lot in the space of a week. My favourite part was when we got to use Magic Pro to make our own music tracks. The workshop was a great addition to my CV and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in Music Production.’
Computer Technology learner Daire successfully secured his place on the Animation Workshop also held at the Nerve Centre, and spent the week learning how to create characters on photoshop, produce cartoons with his characters using Adobe After Effect software as well as creating clay characters and making a movie with stock motion graphics.
Daire is interested in progressing with his career and moving into the animation world. He was delighted to have been given the opportunity to attend the workshop and explains, ‘The Animation workshop was brilliant, I learned loads of new things and it really helped me understand what I need to do to move my career further towards the animation side of IT. I am currently completing a Level 2 in Computer Technology at Springvale and will hopefully gain an apprenticeship to complete a Level 3 qualification. I really enjoyed the workshop and would highly recommend it to anyone else who is interested in a career in animation.”
