Springvale Graduation 2017

On Thursday 29th June 2017, we held our annual Graduation, hosted by Sarah Travers, showcasing the success of Springvale’s valued learners and marking a special day for everyone at the organisation.

Learners, parents and invited guests, were joined by Ciara Daly, the Artistic Director and owner of Northern Ireland’s most innovative beauty business who gave an engaging and motivating speech praising the graduates on their achievements and emphasising that although it may be tough at times they should “feel the fear and do it anyway.”

This year, Springvale Employment and Learning Solutions distributed over 650 qualifications ranging from Diplomas, NVQs, Vocational Technical Certificates, and Essential skills including Numeracy, Communication, Employability and Personal and Social Development. Mary McGurk, Director of Quality, Curriculum and Planning, said, “We are delighted to have worked with over 600 learners in the last year and our tutors are dedicated to keeping the learner at the centre of everything we do, both in achieving their qualifications to kickstart their careers, and their personal development. We are so pleased with how well everyone has done this year and their achievements is all credit to them and their families.”

Students receiving awards had completed Training for Success, ApprenticeshipsNI and Steps to Success programmes and completed courses in Business Services, Computer Technology, Digital Media, Electrical Engineering, Food Preparation and Catering, General Construction, Joinery, Hair, Beauty, Barbering, Hospitality, Retail and Plumbing.

The event began with lunch provided by in House Chef and Tutor Gordon Birch alongside entertainment from local Irish dancers and musicians from the Andersonstown School of Music. The event highlighted the success and hard work of individuals throughout the last year including vocational Learner of the Year, 100% Attendance achievers, Apprentice of the Year, Steps 2 Success: Entrepreneur of the Year, Steps 2 Success: Overcoming Adversity 2017, Employer of the Year, Partner of the Year, Spirit of Springvale 2017 and The Kevin McCaffery Cup.
