Celebrating the Start of a New Year with the Class of 2017!
Friday saw the end of the first week of the new term at Springvale Learning. The Freshers Fair was set up to help new learners to get to know each other and to celebrate the start of their future careers as they each embark on their vocational training under the Training for Success programme funded by the Department for Communities.
Learners enjoyed finding out about a range of support services available to them during their time at Springvale Learning. They also took part in a range of games and activities to encourage new friendships and to help them get to know their tutors better, including fooseball and table tennis tournaments; Xbox competitions; 5 a side football; selfie booth; and African drumming competition.
Rohan Young from the Andersonstown School of Music provided the tutorage for the drumming workshop and commented that there was plenty of music in our new intake, which always helps in the development of the learners innovative and creative skills.
Speaking at the event, Dr Alan Blair, Chief Executive said;
“This has been a great day of fun and comradery and it is good to see our new learners settling in to their new surroundings and making new friendships. We all look forward to another successful year and to working with these young people to bring out their skills and abilities and get them started in their vocational careers”.
