We had a Meet the Employer Careers event last week and we had an amazing turn out to our event. We had young people from schools from West Belfast including Mercy College Belfast, All Saints College, Blessed Trinity College Belfast, St. Louise’s Comprehensive College, De La Salle College, The Belfast Boys’ Model School, Hazelwood Integrated College, St Colm’s High School Belfast, Stgenevieves Belfast and Malone Integrated College.
The students had the opportunity to see around the college and learn more about our different courses, visiting our hairdressing, barbering and beauty salons as well as our plumbing and joinery and childcare workshops. Getting a real insight into what they would be doing if they joined one of our courses.
They also had the opportunity to interact with a wide range of different employers, learning more about the different career opportunities available to them in the various industries and the different routes to get into their different career paths.
We want to thank all of the employers who represented the different industries and interacted with the schools and pupils.
We also want to thank the Lord Mayor of Belfast Ryan Murphy for attending and help support local employers and schools in West Belfast. Also thanks to all you took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning with over £600 raised for this amazing charity, thank you to YouthStart for organising.
We hope to have another event to help support the local community with training and employment with the West of Belfast.
