What is Plumbing?

Plumbing is an extremely important job role with many individuals relying on the skill set of a fully qualified plumber.

Plumbers work in a variety of different buildings including cafes, houses, restaurants, trains, shops, airports and hotels. Basically, anywhere that an individual needs running water to live and survive!!

Common tasks involved in Plumbing

Important tasks of a plumber include the installation of water and gas supply systems in buildings. Other important responsibilities include;

  • Hot and cold water supply to bathroom and kitchens
  • Repairing sanitation systems
  • Fitting domestic appliances such as dishwashers, washing machines, fridges
  • Installing air conditioning units
  • Fitting bathrooms
  • Emergency call outs and repairs
  • Central heating and gas or oil supply systems
  • Above ground draining systems
  • Installation and maintenance of heating systems

Plumbers require specific personal skills to successfully carry out any of their plumbing jobs.  It is an extremely practical job that requires patience and the ability to solve problems. As this is a customer facing role, communication skills are also extremely important.
