Description: Waiters and Waitresses prepare tables in a restaurant before guests arrive, take orders, serve food and drink and clear tables. They also add up the bill for the meal and take payment for it.
Personal Qualities: Waiters / waitresses need plenty of energy and stamina, good communication skills and a polite and friendly personality. They need to like food as well as people. They need to know what’s on the menu and make recommendations, if asked. They need the ability to deal tactfully and patiently with customers and to work fast and efficiently at busy times. Waiters / waitresses need to stay calm under pressure, be neat and tidy in appearance and have good numeracy skills for handling money.
Timescale: 3 days (21 hours) off the job when not in placement.
3 days (21 hours) off the job plus 1 further day when in placement.
