| Description: | Carpenters and joiners use their skills to make structures and fittings such as windows, roofs, floors, walls and doors from wood and wood materials. They use a variety of hand and power tools to cut, shape and join the wood. |
| Personal Qualities: | Joiners need good hand and eye co-ordination, to be physically fit, to have maths skills to work out angles and measurements, to pay attention to detail and have an eye for shape and colour, to be a good team worker, to have a head for heights for working up ladders or scaffolding and to enjoy working with wood. |
| Timescale: | 3 days (21 hours) off the job when not in placement. 3 days (21 hours) off the job plus 1 further day when in placement. |
