| Description: | A Barperson is responsible for serving customers drinks and snacks in hotel bars, restaurants, wine bars and pubs. Other duties may include stock control and food preparation. A barperson often works shifts, combining morning, daytime or evening work. |
| Personal Qualities: | A Barperson needs to be enthusiastic and friendly and able to get along with different types of people. They need to be aware of hygiene and personal cleanliness. Good numeracy skills are essential and they must be physically fit to lift and move heavy items. They need plenty of stamina and energy as they will be on their feet most of the time. A barperson needs to be able to deal effectively, but tactfully, with customers who have had too much to drink or are under age. They need to work well in a team environment and to cope well under pressure and at speed when the bar gets busy. |
