Apprenticeships
The Department for Employment and Learning’s ApprenticeshipsNI programme offers a range of apprenticeship opportunities to existing/newly recruited employees, of all ages. As an employer, you can play a vital role and reap huge business benefits by investing in apprenticeships including increased productivity and a more loyal workforce. Apprenticeships can take between two to four years to complete depending on the level of study, with apprentices working to complete industry-approved Level 2/Level 3 Apprenticeship Frameworks. These are designed by the Sector Skills Councils and Industry Representative Bodies. They lead to externally accredited National Vocational Qualifications.
They set out the relevant national occupational standards to be achieved by the apprentice and cover the skills, knowledge and understanding which relate to the particular occupational area.
We will enter into an agreement with you, as the employer, employing the apprentice to work alongside your experienced staff, to learn the trade. We would carry out the ‘off-the-job’ training, usually on a day release basis or on site on your premises. A Personal Training Plan is discussed and agreed between you, your apprentice and ourselves as the training provider. The Training Plan will detail the progression route toward the agreed qualifications and completion of a full apprenticeship, so that everyone involved knows what will be achieved.
"Mivan and Springvale Learning have an ongoing, close working partnership in the delivery of apprenticeship training. The relationship ensures that Mivan's apprentices develop the skills and knowledge required to succeed and actively contribute to our workplace. The fact that Springvale delivers the training programme on Mivan's own premises gives us the confidence that the apprentices are familiarised with the professionalism of our environment, that they are comfortable with our policies and procedures and that they have a clear understanding of the work ethic and culture which exists in our organisation. The partnership arrangement we have in place with Springvale Learning continues to be extremely beneficial. We have a single point of contact for any queries and concerns and both staff and apprentices are delighted with the quality of service and training delivered." Simon Harland, Training and Development Mivan.
Apprentices must be contracted with a Northern Ireland - based company to work a minimum of 21 hours including time for ‘off-the-job’ training. An apprentice is paid the going rate for the job which is agreed with you before the beginning of the Apprenticeship.
Apprentices, by participating in ‘on-and off-the-job’ training will complete and achieve a full apprenticeship framework, acquiring the knowledge and skills to be competent in their chosen career. As your Training Partner contracted by the Department for Employment and Learning, Springvale Learning will deliver the ‘off-the-job’ training element and organise accredited qualifications and assessment. We will ensure that training is always relevant and tailored to the needs of your sector by people who genuinely understand what you do.
Apprenticeships are open to both your existing and newly recruited employees of all ages and are available on a full-framework basis. Specialist Support Services are available for apprentices with an auditory, visual or other physical disability. Simply contact us to speak with a member of our staff team.

It also offers you incentives which range from £500 to £1,500 depending on the occupational area, the level of study required and when the apprentice has completed the full framework.
Essential Skills will be provided on the job free of charge if required.
